2027 NFL Mock Draft: First-Round Predictions After Week 7

Our early 2027 NFL mock draft, based on the standings after Week 7 — who the Chargers, Titans, Dolphins and others could take, plus the prospects everyone is talking about.

2027 NFL Mock Draft: First-Round Predictions After Week 7

It’s early, but the 2027 NFL Draft picture is already taking shape. The draft will be held April 29 to May 1, 2027, in Washington, D.C., and a few teams are already looking to the future.

This mock uses the draft order if the season ended after Week 7. Teams with the same record are listed in an approximate order, because the real tiebreaker (strength of schedule) changes every week. If you’re new to the draft, start with how the NFL Draft works.

Picks 1–9

1. Los Angeles Chargers (0-6): Jeremiah Smith, WR, Ohio State

Smith is widely seen as the best player in this class. He leads college receivers in PFF’s receiving grade (94.5), and he can win deep, short and after the catch. A No. 1 receiver would help the Chargers’ offense right away. Some mocks have the Chargers taking Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore here instead.

2. Tennessee Titans (1-6): Colin Simmons, EDGE, Texas

Simmons had a 90.6 pass-rush grade through five games this season. Every team needs players who can pressure the quarterback, and Simmons is the best pass rusher in the class.

3. Miami Dolphins (1-5): Arch Manning, QB, Texas

Malik Willis gave Miami its first win, but the Dolphins need a long-term answer at quarterback. Manning has the size, arm and name recognition to be the face of a rebuild. Other mocks have Miami taking Oklahoma State’s Drew Mestemaker or Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss.

4. Washington Commanders (1-4-1): Cam Coleman, WR, Texas

Washington already has Jayden Daniels at quarterback, so it can build around him. Coleman is a downfield threat who averages 18.7 yards per catch, a perfect partner for Daniels’ arm.

5. New Orleans Saints (2-5): Dylan Stewart, EDGE, South Carolina

Stewart has a 22.5% pass-rush win rate, one of the best numbers in college football. The Saints need defensive playmakers to help Tyler Shough and a young offense.

6. New York Jets (2-5): Dante Moore, QB, Oregon

The Jets own three first-round picks in many projections: their own, plus picks from Dallas and Indianapolis. That gives them the freedom to take a quarterback. Moore posted a 90.2 PFF grade in 2025 and has kept improving.

7. New York Jets (from Indianapolis, 2-5): Leonard Moore, CB, Notre Dame

Moore is the best defensive back in the class. He allowed only six catches on 130 coverage snaps early this season, according to PFF.

8. Houston Texans (2-5): Trevor Goosby, OT, Texas

Houston’s top priority should be protecting C.J. Stroud. Goosby allowed only seven pressures on 185 pass-blocking snaps and could start at left tackle from day one.

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5): CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame

Baker Mayfield is back from his thumb injury, but Tampa Bay needs to think about the future. Carr started 2026 strongly with a 91.2 passing grade from PFF.

Other first-round names to know

Player Position School Why he’s rising
Drew Mestemaker QB Oklahoma State Strong PFF grades in 2025 and early 2026
Trinidad Chambliss QB Ole Miss Low turnover-worthy play rate (2.5%)
Ellis Robinson IV CB Georgia Good in both man and zone coverage
Will Echoles DT Ole Miss Grades well as a pass rusher and run stopper
Jordan Seaton OT LSU A natural left tackle
Charlie Becker WR Indiana Efficient route runner (3.70 yards per route run)
Darian Mensah QB Miami A first-round QB in several mocks

How the 2027 class looks so far

  • Quarterbacks: This could be a big QB class. Several mock drafts have five to seven quarterbacks going in the first round, including Manning, Moore, Carr, Mestemaker and Chambliss.
  • Receivers: Jeremiah Smith is the clear No. 1, with Cam Coleman and Charlie Becker close behind.
  • Pass rushers: Colin Simmons and Dylan Stewart are the top two.

Remember: mock drafts change a lot between October and April. College results, injuries, the Scouting Combine (March 1–8, 2027) and pre-draft workouts will all move players up and down. We’ll update this mock as the season goes on.
