This page explains how Downs & Dunks researches, writes, checks and corrects its articles. We want readers to know exactly what they can expect from us.
Our goal
To give NFL and NBA fans accurate, clear and useful information: game times, where to watch, how the rules work, and what the news means.
Accuracy and sources
- We check facts such as dates, times, TV channels, rules, contracts and statistics against official sources first: the NFL, the NBA, the teams, the broadcasters and official league documents.
- For news and analysis, we use trusted outlets with a strong record, and we credit or link to them.
- We never copy other publishers’ articles. When we use information from another outlet, we write in our own words and link to the original.
- Statistics are accurate as of the date of the article. Sports numbers change every week, so check the date shown on each article.
Rumors and opinions
- Rumors are clearly labeled. We use words like "reportedly", "could" and "possible", and we say who reported it.
- Opinion pieces such as power rankings, mock drafts, fantasy advice and award races are labeled as our opinion. Reasonable fans can disagree.
Fantasy advice
Our fantasy football and fantasy basketball advice is for entertainment and information. Player news can change minutes before a game, so always check the latest injury reports before setting your lineup.
Use of AI tools
We use AI tools to help with research and to write first drafts. We never publish AI output as it is. Before publishing, a person:
- Checks every fact, number, date and name against reliable sources
- Edits the article for clarity and accuracy
- Decides whether it’s useful enough to publish at all
The editor is responsible for everything we publish, however it was drafted.
Updates
Many of our articles, such as TV guides, schedules, rankings and playoff pictures, are updated regularly. When we make a meaningful update, the "Updated" date at the top of the article changes.
Corrections
If we make a mistake, we correct it as quickly as possible:
- Small errors (a typo, a wrong time zone) are fixed right away.
- Important errors (a wrong date, score, name or fact that changes the meaning) are fixed, and we add a short note at the end of the article explaining what changed.
Spotted a mistake? Email [email protected] with the article link. See our Contact page.
Independence and advertising
- Downs & Dunks is independent and is not affiliated with the NFL, the NBA or any team.
- The site is supported by advertising, such as Google AdSense. Advertisers do not choose or review our articles.
- We don’t accept payment to change our coverage, rankings or opinions. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled as "Sponsored".
- We don’t publish betting tips.
